Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Pulled pork sandwiches are the ultimate comfort food—slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth pork piled high on a toasted bun and smothered in tangy BBQ sauce. Whether you're feeding a crowd or meal-prepping for the week, this timeless dish delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Pair it with coleslaw, pickles, or potato salad for a perfect bite every time.
Ingredients
For the pork:
3–4 lbs pork shoulder (aka pork butt), boneless or bone-in
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chili powder
½ cup chicken broth or apple juice
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
For serving:
1½–2 cups BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
6–8 brioche or sandwich buns
Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, sliced onions
Instructions
1. Season the pork
In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. Rub the spice mix all over the pork.
2. Cook the pork
Place pork in a slow cooker with broth and apple cider vinegar. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours, until fork-tender and easily shredded.
3. Shred the pork
Remove pork and shred with two forks. Discard excess fat. Skim fat from juices if desired, then return shredded meat to the slow cooker and mix with your favorite BBQ sauce. Let it warm through for 15–20 minutes.
4. Assemble sandwiches
Toast buns if desired. Pile on a generous scoop of pulled pork, drizzle with extra BBQ sauce, and top with coleslaw or pickles.
