Delicious Beef Tongue Recipes

1. Lengua Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs beef tongue tips
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Corn tortillas
  • Diced onions, cilantro, and lime wedges for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Place tongue tips in a large pot with onion, garlic, bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Cover with water.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer, and cook 2–3 hours until tender.
  3. Remove tongue, peel skin, and chop meat.
  4. Serve in tortillas topped with onions, cilantro, and lime.
2. Braised Tongue Tips in Red Wine

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs tongue tips
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Brown tongue tips in olive oil.

  2. Place in smoker at 225°F for 4–5 hours, until internal temp reaches 190°F.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb tongue tips
  • 2 quarts beef broth
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
